Interested in hosting an in-person Cicerone exam?

Currently, our in-person exams are only the tasting and demonstration portions of the Certified Cicerone exam and the tasting and oral portions of the Advanced Cicerone exam.

To stay Covid-conscious, the exam size is limited to 4-6 examinees plus the exam proctor and blind taster. While this number is flexible, we try not to have more than eight people in the space at one time.

To make up for the small exam size, we hold up to three consecutive exams throughout the day at 2-hour intervals. On a typical exam day, we host exams at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 2:00 pm. When needed, we can arrange earlier start times.

Space Requirements:

We require the following for our exam spaces:

  • The space must be quiet and well-lit
  • The classroom size needs to accommodate 6-8 people widely spaced (10 feet if possible)
  • One smaller, quiet, well-lit space for recorded demonstration portion, ideally out of sight and earshot of the main testing space
  • A kitchenette with refrigeration or secure area out of view of candidates to prepare tasting exam samples
  • Access to space approximately 90 minutes ahead of the first scheduled exam of the day until approximately 60 minutes after the last scheduled tasting exam

Code of Conduct Requirements:

Our goal is to provide a testing environment free of discriminatory behavior, intimidation, or harassment, including sexual harassment. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and discrimination including but not limited to: race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, gender presentation, sexual orientation, age, body size, disability, appearance, religion, citizenship, pregnancy, marital or familial status, military or veteran status.

All exam host sites must provide the Cicerone Certification Program with their code of conduct (either PDF or publicly accessible web link are acceptable). Codes of conduct will be included in the exam day instructions emailed to candidates.

Contact info@cicerone.org if you'd like to host an exam.
