What is on the Advanced Cicerone exam?
Advanced Cicerone candidates complete an online written exam and in-person tasting and oral examinations. The written and tasting exams may be taken in either order. The written portion includes formats ranging from multiple-choice questions to essays. Tasting panels assess off-flavor identification, style discrimination, and descriptive analysis. Oral examinations evaluate the candidate’s ability to communicate advanced knowledge of beer styles and food pairing. Candidates must earn at least 80% overall and at least 75% on the tasting portion.
