Beer education, sensory and food pairing Consultant, Mirella Amato, has dedicated herself to promoting local beer and the art of beer appreciation since 2007. Five years later, in2012, she became the first person outside of the USA to earn the title of Master Cicerone. Mirella offers consulting services through her company, Beerology Inc. including curriculum structure and content for both online and live educational programs. She has designed a number of programs focusing on both craft beer essentials and food pairing content for breweries in Canada, the US and Europe. She also created the curriculum for the sensory evaluation courses at the Canadian Food and Wine Institute Brewmaster Program, where she taught for their inaugural year. Mirella is the author of the award-winning book Beerology: Everything You Need to Know to Enjoy Beer...Even More - now available in 3 languages. She also contributed a number of entries to the Oxford Companion to Beer. In 2012, she was the recipient of the Ontario Craft Brewers Centre of Excellence Industry Choice Award in Food & Beer Matching Development. Mirella is a Master BJCP Judge and has sat on the jury for the Brussels Beer Challenge, the Canadian Brewing Awards, the Great American Beer Festival, the European Beer Star and the World Beer Cup. In 2021, Mirella launched an online course on how to pair beer with food designed for hospitality professionals who work with beer: Mastering Beer & Food Pairing brought to you by Beerology®.
