Personal bio
With both professional and amateur experience in a variety of fields, I consider myself to be a jack–of–all–trades. However, my passion is for food an beer. I have loved cooking and baking ever since I was a kid and enjoy experimenting with different ingredients, usually to great success (like hot sauce in mac & cheese) and sometimes to a less than tasty result (cinnamon in mac & cheese)! As an adult I bring that same passion for experimentation to the brewing process, again usually to great success (salted caramel chocolate stout) and sometimes to a less than tasty result (way too many jalapenos in the chocolate porter). My appreciation for beer and wine really started when I took Beer & Brewing in German Culture and Wine Appreciation and Purdue University. It was a semester when I need a few extra credits to keep my full time enrollment status and I thought they would be easy. They were not easy, but I loved each of them. My major at Purdue is a form of biology but I enjoy chemistry much more, and that was a major component in my interest with brewing and wine making. Biology and my minor in psychology helped me to understand the effects of alcohol on the human body and mind. Someday I hope to open my own brewery and produce uniquely flavored beers that stand out from the general styles of beer. I also wish to be involved with programs that educate the population on the dangers of alcohol abuse as well as programs that help people struggling with alcoholism find the support they need.
